Is it safe to feed raw crab with the shell on to my 7 lb Maine Coon, or should I only offer cooked crab meat?

Stick to cooked crab meat without any shell, seasoning, or butter. Raw crab can carry parasites and bacteria that are unsafe for cats, and the sharp shell fragments can cause serious internal injuries if swallowed. A small bite of properly cooked, plain crab meat is a fine occasional treat, but never serve it with garlic, salt, or anything extra. Watch her after she eats it, and offer plain water to help her digest the new food. Call your own vet if she vomits or seems uncomfortable afterward.
