Both octopus and squid should be fed only with caution to cats. Octopus flesh is very rubbery and can be a choking hazard even when cooked thoroughly. Compared with squid, which is also chewy, octopus is generally tougher and offers no nutritional advantage for cats. Because of the choking risk, most veterinarians recommend avoiding it altogether. If your cat does manage to eat a small piece, monitor for coughing, gagging, or digestive upset and contact your vet if anything seems abnormal.
